The Foundation provides inpatient and domiciliary clinical and health care to patients with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), diagnosed by a regional healthcare centre.

This service started in 2008.  Care is provided on the basis of an Individual Care Plan and the stage of the disease.  The centre also provides social and psychological support to patients and families throughout their care pathway.

The facility has a small ward for ALS patients.  The multidisciplinary team is composed of a physician, a nurse, a physiotherapist, a healthcare assistant, a social assistant, a psychologist and a volunteer.

The Foundation organises the service, establishes the patients’ Individual Care Plan and coordinates primary and specialist care in association with the Local Health Service, Roma 3.

The patients’ Local Health Service contributes to their care by providing a psychological service, medications and medical aids.

ALS inpatients and their families may access all the services provided in the Foundation’s Palliative Care Centre.
