The centre provides counselling and information to the families of Alzheimer’s patients on the Day Centre and Home Care waiting list, for the purpose helping them to deal with problems and promoting a proactive interaction between patients, staff and carers.

 






The Foundation’s Alzheimer’s Care Centre establishes training courses for family members related to each stage of the disease for the purpose of:


  • avoiding family isolation;
  • increasing the their skills in order to reduce the degree of patients’ disabilities;
  • preserving cognitive and functional skills;
  • coping with behavioural disorders;
  • improving the quality of life of patients and families;
  • involving the local health and social services.

 

Suggested activities:

  • emotional support groups;
  • training courses for carers;
  • individual targeted counselling;
  • long term care planning support.

 
These services are free of charge.
